Titans. She was the child of Oceanus and Tethys, and the grandchild of Uranus and Gaia. She was the first spouse of Zeus, and his equal. Her daughter was Athena, the patron of the university that spawned our work. You can read the myths surrounding Athena’s birth here.

  Tellus is the Roman name for Earth (Gaia, in Greek).
